Ingredients
8lasagna noodles, boiled to al dente
4ozmozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
2cupsricotta cheese
6-8fresh basil leaves
1/2cupparmesan cheese
1small tomato, sliced

1/2lbsweet Italian sausage, casings removed
1/2lbspicy Italian sausage, casings removed
1tbspolive oil
28ozcan crushed tomatoes
2tbsptomato paste
3clovesgarlic, minced
4largebasil leaves, chopped
1/2smallyellow onion, chopped
1tbspItalian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Sauce
In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sausages. Sauté and break up with a spoon until fully cooked. Add onions and garlic and continue to cook for 5 minutes.Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and simmer over low heat for 20-30 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Lasagna
In a large skillet, add 1/4 cup of the sauce. Layer 4 of the lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles. Add half of the sausage sauce, then halve of the mozzarella cheese.Add a second layer by repeating the layering process again. Place down the 4 remaining lasagna noodles, spread the remaining ricotta cheese, add the remaining sauce and mozzarella cheese. For the garnish, on top of the lasagna, add slices of tomato, basil leaves and parmesan cheese. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 40-45 minutes or until the cheese starts to brown and the lasagna is bubbling. Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
