Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced seedless watermelon
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 4 ounces tequilla
  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • watermelon flavored sugar for rim
  • limes for garnish
  • watermelon wedges for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Simple Syrup

  • Add water and sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Once the sugar dissolves, remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool completely.

Watermelon Juice

  • Cut and cube fresh seedless watermelon into chunks until you measure 2 cups. Add the watermelon to a blender and puree until smooth. Strain the mixture into a bowl or measuring cup and set it aside.

Cocktail

  • Rub a lime around the rims of 2 low ball glasses.  Dip in a plate of watermelon or plain sugar. Fill each glass with ice and set aside.
To a cocktail shaker, add lime juice, Grand Marnier, and tequila to a shaker. Add the strained watermelon juice and ice. Shake until cold and divide between the 2 glasses. Garnish each cocktail with a watermelon wedge, lime slices and mint, if desired.
