Puff Pastry Salted Caramel Apple Skillet

Spread the love

Apple picking season… The time of the year to bombard you with tons of apple recipes. Since moving out of the city, one thing we love is that all of the Apple orchards are so much closer to us now. So, we have no excuse not to go Apple picking and pick bags of fresh crisp apples every Fall.

But on the other hand, that means an abundance of apples that need to be eaten, cooked and baked with.

So, here’s the first thing I’ve made with them, a Puff Pastry Salted Caramel Skillet. I love a good tart. It’s less work than a pie and just as delicious!

Instead of pie crust, I make this tart with puff pastry that I buy from the freezer section of the supermarket. Just take it out of the box, thaw and use. So simple!

It also goes into a cast iron skillet instead of a pie dish. Simply lay the puff pastry down in the skillet, and add a small layer of sugar. Core and slice apples and lay them down on top of the sugar in a decorative pattern. You want the skillet to be pleasing to the eye!

Cover the apples with lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, more sugar and butter. Bake and serve with ice cream and a salted caramel drizzle.

You will really love this recipe. It’s such a quick easy way to use up some of your apples from apple picking!
