This was actually only my second time having Nutella. Can you believe it? It just never looked that good to me in its jar. I think it’s because it resembled a jar of peanut butter to me, and I do not like peanut butter. So, I always passed it by in the grocery isle. The first time I had it was in a crepe & I wasn’t particularly fond of it because I usually like crepes with fruit or savory crepes, so I didn’t give it a chance.
While I was posting pictures of other desserts on social media, one of my followers suggested baking with Nutella. I wasn’t going to, but then I thought, maybe I’ll give it one more try. I’m so glad that I did! Not only did it taste great with the crescent dough, it was so easy! There’s just 4 ingredients to this recipe, crescent dough, Nutella, an egg, and walnuts! I got the idea of using crescent dough from Thida Bevington. She makes a lot of rolls with it that she posts to her Instagram. It’s a great idea and tastes really good!
Crescent Nutella Twists with Chopped Walnuts
Ingredients
- 1 can crescent roll sheets
- 1/3 cup Nutella
- 1 egg
- 4 tsp chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Unroll dough sheet from can. Spread Nutella over sheet completely. Cut dough sheet in half. Roll up each sheet, one at a time. Slice each roll down the middle, so that there are 4 pieces now. Fold each dough piece in half, while twisting the 2 dough halves together, with the cut sides facing up. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush on the outside of the pastry. Sprinkle with 1 tsp of the chopped walnuts for each twist. Baked in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
