Brownie Present Chocolate Truffles

Spread the love

Brownie Present Chocolate Truffles would be perfect for a Presents/ gift wrap theme for the holidays!

This truffle has a brownie center with a dark chocolate coating wrapped in fondant ribbons and bows. The perfect little holiday gift!

To make these I started with making the fondant bows. I found a how-to set of pictures on Pinterest. I had to be very visual for this because there are no written instructions. Click here for the pictures instructions.

I took a piece of red fondant and rolled it out pretty thinly. I cut the rolled fondant into about 2×1 pieces.

Take each piece and make a series of vertical slices in it with an Exacto knife, so the middle of the fondant is cut. Fold the sliced fondant in half horizontally and roll it up. Cut off the excess fondant at the bottom and that’s the bow. I let them dry overnight until I was ready to use them.

Make your favorite brownie recipe for the center. Either use a box mix or a from scratch version. If you choose a homemade one, you can Click here for mine. It’s really your preference.

The next day, temper your chocolate. Place about 2 cups of chopped dark chocolate into a microwave safe bowl and add about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Microwave for about 50-60 seconds, then stir until the chocolate is melted. It will not look melted when you first take it out. If it still isn’t fully melted after storing for one minute put it back in for 10 seconds.

You will need a square silicon mold to make these.

Place a small spoonful in one cavity. Spread it around until it almost reaches the top, but not all the way. You can use your fingers if necessary. Fill the rest of the cavities. Place the mold in the freezer for 10 minutes. Remove it and add a second layer of chocolate. If you only use one layer, the chocolate will likely break when removing it from the cavity.

Cut brownies into squares slightly smaller than the cavities of your mold. Place a Brownie in each one. Cover with more melted chocolate, but don’t fill it up all the way to the top. Leave a little space. Place back into the freezer for 30 minutes. Remove from the freezer, and push each chocolate covered brownie out. Place them into the refrigerator until ready to use.

Roll out more of the red fondant. Use a pastry cutter or pizza cutter to make long strips. These cutters insure you get a straight line.

Use a small paint brush to brush on piping gel where you want the strip to go onto the brownie. Take a fondant strip, and place it over the piping gel line from one side of the brownie to the other. Cut off the excess. Add another line of piping gel the other way. Use the excess fondant strip and lay it on top of the second piping gel line. Trim off the excess fondant. Repeat for the remaining brownies.

Now, with the brush, add a little piping gel to the tops of the brownies where the fondant strips cross. Place a fondant bow on top. Place in the The refrigerator to dry at least one hour.

This process is really a lot easier than in sounds. And when your done, you have beautiful mini chocolate covered brownies!
