The Black Widow Cocktail

What Cocktails Are You Making This Halloween?

With all of the Halloween desserts circling around, I decided to try a spooky cocktail!
Here is my version of The Black Widow Cocktail. It’s dark, sultry, and can be a bit venomous….
It’s made with vodka, homemade BlackBerry liqueur, Orange bitters and a little activated charcoal to get it to the black color. It’s completely optional, but it really doesn’t have a taste and it makes the cocktail nice and spooky!
You can get the the charcoal on Amazon, if you can’t find it in stores. I’ve used it in frosting, pie dough, even in Macarons!
I also garnished this cocktail with a smoking sprig of rosemary. This was actually very easy to do. Place the rosemary in the glass so that it’s propped up. I leaned it against the blackberry that was on a cocktail pick.
Set your camera on a 10 second timer and set it to take 10 shots at a time.
Use a lighter or handheld torch to burn the end. I did this just as the timer was counting down. Stop burning the rosemary just as the camera begins to take the pictures. You may have to attempt this several times until you have a shot you like.
This is the drink to make on All Hallows Eve.
Happy Halloween!
