Brownie Jar Christmas Presents

A Homemade Gift Can Be Just As Great As a Bought One!

We’re just a few days from Christmas and have you done all of your shopping yet? With most of us doing online shopping or other non-in person shopping, here’s a gift idea that you can put together yourself.
Brownie Mix in a jar! It’s the perfect holiday gift! I measured and layered all of the dry ingredients of my brownie recipe in a quart sized Ball Jar, added Christmas twine and a recipe/instructions card. So easy and festive!
I got my recipe printed on to small kraft stock cards by the Etsy shop, Ebuddingdesign
This shop has so many tag options and made mine look amazing with my jars.
To make the brownie jars, start with a quart sized jar.
Layer the ingredients so that every layer is a contrasting color so that each layer will be seen. For example, don’t add the granulated sugar layer on top of the flour because they are both white. I actually added brown sugar into the recipe so that it can go in between and stand out.
Start with adding the flour layer. To get each layer in neatly, you may need to use some type of funnel. I took a pastry bag, cut off the bottom of the bag a size just a little smaller than the opening of the jar. Then pushed the bag down to the bottom of the jar, then poured in the flour with a measuring cup. I repeated the process with the brown sugar, then white granulated sugar, salt, dark cocoa powder and chocolate chips. The pastry bag made getting everything in so easy. I also used a paper towel to wipe the bag after I put in each ingredient so it was clean each time.
I closed the jar and add red and white Christmas twine around the lid. You can also use ribbon. They I added the instruction card to the twine before tying it on fully. If you don’t get cards made, you can also hand write the instructions on paper or card stock and add it to the twine or ribbon.
To make the brownies using the mix, the wet ingredients have to be added. Which are 2 eggs, 1 stick of melted butter, 1/2 cup of oil, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/4 cup boiling water. Mix and pour into a greased or parchment lined 9 inch pan and bake for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
These jars just made my gift giving a whole lot easier! And everyone will definitely love them!
