New Year’s Brunch Style Bacon Waffles with Orange Cranberry Syrup

Ingredients
Waffles
1 cupflour
1tbspsugar
2 1/2tspbaking powder
1/2tspbaking soda
1/4tspsalt
1egg
1cupbuttermilk
3tbspbutter, melted
6pieces bacon
Orange Cranberry Syrup
1cupmaple syrup
1/4cupcranberries
1tsporange juice
1/2tsporange zest
Instructions
Waffles
Add bacon to a frying pan and cook until crispy or to your desired doneness. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined dish. Cool and crumble or chop into small pieces. Set aside.In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add egg, buttermilk and melted butter. Whisk until incorporated. Add half of the bacon and stir. Heat waffle iron and add 3-4 tablespoons of batter depending on the size of your maker. Sprinkle some of the crumbled bacon on top. Close the iron and cook as per the maker's directions. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve with orange cranberry syrup.
Orange Cranberry Syrup
In a small pot add all ingredients. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until all of the cranberries pop. Cool slightly before serving.
