Pear Cheese Tart

Spread the love

I love cakes and brownies, but I really, really love fruit desserts. I make apple pie year-round, not just during Thanksgiving. When summer comes, and all the varieties of fresh fruits hit the market, fruit tarts are on the menu at my house!

For this recipe, I decided to use pears. I usually eat pears raw, but a cooked pear brings out much more flavor. So, I couldn’t resist making them into a tart.

To simplify the recipe, I used Boxed Puffed Pastry. You can find this in the frozen section of your supermarket. I thawed it in the refrigerator overnight, took it out in the morning and put it down on a baking sheet. It comes in two sections. I connected the dough by overlapping them a little and pressing down. If it’s too big for you, simply cut off the excess dough. Then make the cheese filling. Beat cream cheese, an egg, sugar and vanilla in a bowl. Spread this onto the puffed pastry.

Now start cutting up your pears. You can really use any type of pears. The taste is to your preference. I cut the pears in half and scooped out the cores. Then I thinly sliced eat pear and arranged them onto the cheese filling in a pattern. You can place them down any way you want to. Then, brush the pears with melted butter and sprinkle them with sugar. Bake them in a 350 degrees oven for about an hour or until it’s browned.

When you take the tart out of the oven, the smell of the baked fruit is intoxicating. Eat it warm with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Serve this at your next dinner party. Your guests will thoroughly enjoy it!
