Salted Caramel Cinnamon Rolls

Spread the love

Cinnamon Rolls are still an obsession for me! There’s just something about that warm sweet dough with cinnamon running through it that’s so good! And now I’ve added salted caramel to it!

I started with a fluffy sweet dough. Add a cinnamon sugar layer, then pour on the salted caramel! That gooey layer is an added bonus.

I even add more caramel to the top after spreading on the cream cheese frosting.

This is definitely a must try!

INGREDIENTS

• 1/2 cup warm milk

• 1 egg

• ⅓ cup butter, melted

• 2 cups bread flour

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/4 cup sugar

• 1 packet quick rising yeast

• 1/2cup brown sugar, packed

• 1 tablespoons ground cinnamon

• ⅓ cup butter, softened

• Salted Caramel

• Cream cheese frosting

1. Warm milk in the microwave, then pour in a standing mixer. Sprinkle yeast on top. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Add egg, butter, salt, sugar, and flour. Knead dough with a hook attachment for about 5 minutes. Cover the dough with a plastic wrap and let it rise for an hour. Place bowl in the refrigerator overnight.

2. The next day, Sprinkle the counter with flour.

3. Roll the dough into a rectangle.

4. Spread melted butter on top. Sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mix. With a spoon, add salted caramel all over the dough. Use a pastry cutter (or pizza wheel) to slice dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece up separately.

5. Place parchment paper in a large round baking pan (or 2 small). Place rolls in the pan.

6. Let them rise until the rolls have risen to twice their size.

7. Bake at 400 F for 20 minutes or until brown.

8. Spread the frosting on the rolls and drizzle a little more caramel.

Salted Caramel:

•1 cup sugar

•1/2 heavy cream

•2 tbsp butter

•1 tsp salt

Caramel:

In a saucepan, place the sugar over medium heat. Let the sugar melt completely. Stir slowly as it melts and turns Amber. When all of the sugar is dissolved, add the heavy cream. Stir. Then add the butter and salt. When the butter is melted, turn off the heat and let it cool.

Frosting

• 1/2 stick butter, softened

• 4 oz cream cheese, softened

• 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla

• 1 tbsp heavy cream

Frosting

1. Mix butter, cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar, and heavy cream in a stand mixer.  In a separate bowl, place white chocolate and melt in the microwave until softened, but not too long, about 30-45 seconds.  Stir until melted.  Add the chocolate to the frosting and stir.  Spread on warm rolls.
