Egg Nog French Toast with Candied Walnuts
I’m putting away the pumpkins and gourds and taking out the lights and tinsel because It’s officially Christmas Season!
After all of the presents are opened and everyone is fully awake and in a holiday mood, it’s time to make Christmas morning breakfast!
And there’s so many options like Pecan Pie Pancakes, Salted Caramel Cinnamon Rolls and Classic Eggs Benedict.
And here’s another festive and delicious holiday breakfast recipe to make, Egg Nog French Toast with Candied Walnuts. It combines the traditional Christmas drink with a beloved breakfast.
Start with mixing store bought egg nog with eggs. Then add in vanilla extract, and spices.
The egg nog replaces the milk or cream you would normally use in making French toast. So, the mixer is still rich and creamy.
Dip thick slices of challah or brioche bread in the egg mixture and cook in a buttered skillet on each side until golden brown.
Top the French Toast slices with whipped cream and candied walnuts when done. I used store bought candied walnuts as well because it’s just easier, but feel free to make your own or just use regular chopped walnuts.
This has now become my favorite French Toast recipe. Definitely give it a try!
