What ingredients are in this Watermelon Margarita?
Watermelon- diced Watermelon is used as the base flavor for this margarita.
Grand Marnier- Instead of triple sec, I use Grand Marnier. These types of liquor typically brings sweetness to this drink, balancing the tart lime and tequila.
Lime Juice- Gives the drink tartness
Tequila- Tequila is the base alcohol in a margarita.
Sugar- sugar is used to make a simple syrup, which adds sweetness to the cocktail
How is this Watermelon Margarita made?
First make a quick simple syrup. Add water and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Once the sugar dissolves, remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool completely. You don’t want to add hot syrup to the cocktail.
Cut and cub fresh seedless watermelon into chunks until you measure 2 cups. add the watermelon to a blender and puree until smooth. Strain the mixture into a bowl or measuring cup and set it aside.
Add it to lime juice, Grand Marnier, and tequila to a shaker. Add the strained watermelon juice and ice. Shake until cold and pour into 2 low balls glasses filled with ice. Garnish each glass with a watermelon wedge, lime slices and mint, if desired.
This margarita was so unexpectedly good! I can’t wait to make it again for my next summer party.
Tips
