Cadillac Guava Margarita! I could have these all the time! This classic Cadillac Margarita gets a shot of Grand Marnier and lots of guava nectar in it. You’ll want to serve this at your next outdoor get together.

Why is it called a Cadillac Margarita?

The Cadillac Margarita gets its name because instead of triple sec, which is typically used in margaritas, you use Grand Marnier. Grand Marnier is an orange liqueur that is a blend of cognac and triple sec. So, it gives the cocktail an extra element that’s so good.

What type of guava is used for the Cadillac Guava Margarita?

For this easy margarita recipe, I used Guava nectar. You can get it in most supermarkets. Do not use guava juice because it’s too thin and not as concentrated. Guava nectar is made from the pulp of the guava fruit and is sweeter than juice.
If you can get ripe fresh guavas, you can use them too. Just peel, slice and purée them with a little water, so that the mixture is pourable.

How is the Cadillac Guava Margarita made?

This cocktail is so easy to make. Start with making the simple syrup. Cook sugar and water in a small saucepan, then let it cool completely. Once cooled, it will thicken slightly into a syrup.
In a cocktail shaker, add lime juice, simple syrup, tequila, Grand Marnier, and guava nectar. Shake to blend with a scoop of ice.
Pour the cocktail into a highball glass that’s rimmed with a pink colored (or any flavor you like) cocktail sugar or salt. Garnish with lime and guava slices and a little cilantro for something different. All of these garnishes are completely optional. This Cadillac Guava Margarita on the rocks is the perfect margarita!

Tips

  • Use a good quality tequila for the cocktail
  • Fresh lime juice is also extremely important.
  • You can also use agave instead of the simple syrup for the sweetener in the recipe.
  • Do not use guava juice in the Margarita. Use guava nectar because it is thicker and more concentrated.
