The Combination of Gin and Hibiscus is Amazing!

Hibiscus Gin Sour Cocktail is an amazing drink! The flavor of the hibiscus flowers sweetened, and mixed with gin makes such a great combination. It’s the perfect cocktail for Spring.

What is Hibiscus?

Hibiscus are plants that are known for their large, colorful flowers.  The flowers and leaves can be made into teas and liquid extracts that are perfect in cocktails like the Hibiscus Gin Sour.

How is the Cocktail Made?

Start with making a simple syrup using the dried flowers. Add the flowers to a saucepan with sugar and water. Cook until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the flowers and cool.

Add the syrup to a shaker with gin and lemon juice and egg white. Shake until frothy. The egg white adds an attractive foamy head to cocktails. It makes the drink more appealing. It does not have any taste in it though.

Is It Safe to Add The Egg White?

According to Adam Teeter on Vinepair “It’s never 100 percent safe to drink or consume any egg that’s raw, the risks of consuming egg whites in cocktails are extremely minimal. That’s because current food safety regulations require most chickens to be vaccinated against salmonella.”

To finish the cocktail add ice and shake again. Pour into coupe glasses and serve. The perfect cocktail for Spring!
